Europe Month in Saudi Arabia – May 2016

In the occasion of the European Month (May 2016), the Embassy of Italy in Saudi Arabia will take part to a series of events promoted by the Delegation of the European Union in partnership with EU Members’ delegations in Riyadh. Music concerts, movies, conferences, and exhibitions will take place during this month.

 
The Italian musicians Gianfranco Bortolato (pianist) and Giovanni Dal Missier (oboist) will perform some of the world-wide known, award-winning Ennio Morricone’s soundtracks on the evening of opening of the photo exhibition on Islamic art. The event will take place at the National Museum of Riyadh on the 9th of May. The duo will make also a concert at the Italian Embassy on the 12th of May.

 
Amongst other European professionals, an Italian expert will deliver several lectures at the “National Museum” during the workshop “European Museology and Islamic art in Europe”. The main themes will be Digital media and its use in museums (May 10), Conservation and restoration of artefacts/antique objects (May 11), and Islamic art in Europe (May 12).

 
The “Europe Film Festival” will include the Italian movies “Tempo instabile… con probabili schiarite” (May 19), directed by Marco Pontecorvo and with Luca Zingaretti and Pasquale Petrolo as main characters, and “Sei mai stata sulla luna?” (May 26), directed by Paolo Genovese and performed by Liz Solari, Raoul Bova and Neri Marcorè. Both movies will be played in the Italian Embassy.
