{"id":3105,"date":"2025-08-12T12:47:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T09:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambriad.esteri.it\/?p=3105"},"modified":"2025-08-12T13:07:55","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T10:07:55","slug":"implementation-of-the-bilateral-agreement-between-italy-and-saudi-arabia-on-mutual-visa-exemption-for-holders-of-diplomatic-special-or-service-passports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambriad.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2025\/08\/implementation-of-the-bilateral-agreement-between-italy-and-saudi-arabia-on-mutual-visa-exemption-for-holders-of-diplomatic-special-or-service-passports\/","title":{"rendered":"Implementation of the Bilateral Agreement between Italy and Saudi Arabia on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Special, or Service Passports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Effective <strong>August 13, 2025<\/strong>, the <strong>Bilateral Agreement between the Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia<\/strong> on the <strong>mutual exemption from short-stay visa requirements<\/strong> for <strong>holders of diplomatic, special, or service passports<\/strong> will enter into force.<\/p>\n<p>The Agreement, signed in <strong>Al Ula on January 26, 2025<\/strong>, allows eligible passport holders to <strong>enter and stay in the territory of the other country without a visa for up to 90 days within a six-month period<\/strong>, provided their passport is valid for at least <strong>six months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This exemption applies exclusively to the <strong>national territories of Italy and Saudi Arabia<\/strong>. It <strong>does not extend to other Schengen Area countries<\/strong>. Official passport holders intending to enter or transit through other Schengen States are advised to consult the relevant embassies or consulates of those countries in advance.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>stays exceeding 90 days<\/strong>, including assignments at <strong>Saudi diplomatic missions based in Italy<\/strong>, a visa remains mandatory. In such cases, applications must be submitted via a <strong>Verbal Note<\/strong> issued by the <strong>Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Visa applications should be addressed to the competent Italian diplomatic mission <a href=\"https:\/\/ambriad.esteri.it\/it\/chi-siamo\/la-rete-consolare\/\">La Rete Consolare \u2013 Ambasciata d&#8217;Italia Riad<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Embassy of Italy in Riyadh<\/strong>, or<\/li>\n<li><strong>Consulate General of Italy in Jeddah<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visa issuance is <strong>free of charge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To book an appointment, please <strong>write directly<\/strong> <strong>to the relevant consular office<\/strong> <a href=\"mailto:riad.visti@esteri.it\">riad.visti@esteri.it<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Effective August 13, 2025, the Bilateral Agreement between the Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the mutual exemption from short-stay visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special, or service passports will enter into force.
