For the first time Riyadh was included among the 100 cities that hosted events celebrating the Italian Design Day.<\/p>\n
The Embassy of Italy organized a lecture by Architect Giovanna Carnevali about \u201cItalian Design and NEOM \u2013 the City of the Future\u201d. NEOM is the Kingdom\u2019s planned mega-city currently under construction in a 26.500 square kilometres area in North-Western Saudi Arabia. It aspires to become a leading hub for renewable energy, smart mobility and technological innovation applied to every urban aspect.<\/p>\n
Dr. Carnevali is a renowned PhD Architect. A former Director of the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona, she is currently Executive Director of Urban Planning at NEOM.<\/p>\n
The Italian Design Day is an initiative launched two years ago by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the purpose of promoting Italian design worldwide.
