The Embassy of Italy can issue Uniform Visas for short-term stays (for a stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period) for the Schengen area only if the sole or main destination of the trip is Italy.
The other Schengen partners retain the right to reject visitors with Schengen visas at the border in violation of this provision.

We would like to inform you that VFS Global has been appointed as the outsourced partner by the Embassy of Italy in Riyadh to facilitate visa applications to Italy and Schengen countries.
The two Visa application centers, both managed by VFS Global company, are located in Riyadh and Al Khobar cities. They are concerned with issuing short-term visas (until 90 days) and with the collecting of passports. It is possible to fix appointments online 24/24 by visiting site The details of the two centers are as follows:

• Riyadh: 2591 Makkah Road, Al Hada District (entrance besides rear entrance of Courtyard Marriott Diplomatic Quarter). The center operates from Sunday to Thursday, from 8:30 to 17:30.

• Al Khobar (Raka Al Janoubia): King Faisal Road (Opp. SABB), Al Katheery Centre 1st Floor. Tel.: +966 (13) 8590243 / 8576148. The center operates from Sunday to Thursday, from 9:00 to 15:00.

Please check directly with the V.A.C. for specific opening and closing times during Ramadan and Saudi national holidays.


• Visa applicants are required to submit in first person their own visa application and all the supporting documents to the VAC of VFS.
• The visa application and all the supporting documents shall be submitted in hard copy at the time of the appointment. Documents submitted by email or fax will not be filed.
• Visa applicants not willing to turn to the VFS agency, may still submit their application at the Visa Section of the Embassy of Italy every day from Sunday to Thursday. Appointments at the Visa Section are limited and can be booked only by email at
• The Visa Section of the Embassy of Italy will continue to handle directly national visa and long term visa (such as study, family reunion), official delegations and diplomatic visas.
• The Visa Section will take care of the collection of passports only for applications submitted directly to the Embassy.


Please note that, in order to be valid, the “declaration of invitation” must:

a. be originated by a firm active in the manufacturing industry legally operating in Italy and registered in one of the national associations or confederations represented by CNEL (;
b. specify period and validity of the requested visa, aim of the journey, commitment of the inviting firm to fulfill all legal duties linked with social security and insurances;
c. mention the awareness of the penal responsibilities arising from “art. 12 del TU 286/1998 in material di favoreggiamento all'immigrazione illegale” (penal responsibilities for abetting illegal immigration).
